We all have our bad days, those days when you might have woken up on the wrong side of the proverbial bed and nothing seems to go your way. Know what I mean? There might not be any logical reason for it, it just happens. I’ve had a few bad days recently, mainly because of my health which I spoke about in this post. But I am not one to dwell on the negatives and although it’s ok to have a bad day, I think we’re all entitled to one from time to time, I think we’d all like to find ways to make them better so here are just 5 ways in which I use to turn those bad days around.
A pampering session is always a good distraction. I think it’s important for everyone to take a step back sometimes and set some time aside for themselves. If I feel particularly anxious, stressed or if I’m just generally having a bad day then a nice, relaxing bath with a compilation of my favourite products is always a good solution. I recently started using some products by L’occitane which is a brand that has such a great array of luxurious products which are perfect to use when wanting to pamper yourself. They have a great selection of gifts sets available at the moment. My favourite scents by them are the almond scent and also the lavender scent which is perfect to use when wanting to de-stress. For me, some ‘me time’ is the perfect antidote to a bad day.
Think of the happy things
The negatives can sometimes overrule the positives and it can be hard to snap out of that feeling of negativity that might be controlling your day. One thing that I find helps is to think of what makes me happy, you’d be surprised how much difference thinking about that one positive or happy thing can do. For me, I either turn to blogging, think of good ol’ memories I’ve had with my family and friends or I blast out my favourite songs and just have a good sing-along. All of the above just help to put a smile on my face and focusing on those happy things often helps to take my mind off of the things that I see as negatives.
Talk it out
Personally, if I’m in a bad mood, I find it hard to talk about it and I never want to take how I’m feeling out on other people. But after I’ve taken some time to myself, I do find that it helps to talk. I’m lucky in the sense that I know I will always have someone there who will listen and sometimes it only takes a conversation to make everything seem that little bit better.
Do something positive
If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know that I’m quite the advocate for positivity. I always try my best to maintain a positive mindset no matter what the situation. Granted, that isn’t always possible and I am by no means saying that I am positive all the time because I can assure you that I’m not, but that’s ok. If I’m having a bad day or even a bad few days then I always try to do one positive thing even if it’s only small. It just gives me that little motivation that I need sometimes. Remember that tomorrow is a new day
I know that a lot of people say this and some probably consider it to be quite a ‘cringey’ statement but when you think about it, it is true and it might just be the motivation that someone needs to gain a more positive perspective. They say that we need to experience bad days to appreciate the good and I definitely believe that. If nothing has gone your way today or any other day, just remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day, a chance to make things better.
Overall, I think an essential way of turning a bad day around is to learn to pick yourself up and find the best ways of making yourself happy. It’s amazing to have supporting people around you, to have those people in your life who will listen to you, make you smile and who will make everything seem just that little bit better but it’s equally as important that you can do the same, not only for other people but for yourself aswell. Focus on yourself from time-to-time, take steps that will allow you to make yourself feel better. Give yourself some appreciation, think of how great a person you are, it goes a long way.
