Hello everyone and welcome back to My Blurred World.
I hope you’re all doing really well.
I’ve been blogging for over two years now which is hard to believe in itself, where has the time gone? As I’m writing this it’s the 30th of September 2017 and something else happened which is even harder for me to believe, we reached 1,000 blog followers.
I would like to take today’s post as a opportunity to say thank you and to reflect on my blogging journey so far. I hope you enjoy today’s post.
(Note: I am not writing this post ot brag or boast in any way, I’m writing it as a post to purely reflect back on in the future and to thank you as my readers for your constant support).
I guess the first thing I have to say and the most important is thank you. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read my posts, like, comment and to click that follow button, it truly does mean a lot to me. Blogging isn’t about numbers but reaching milestones such as this one is such a special feeling and it makes me realise that all the hard work is worth it.
I started blogging because I wanted to express my passion for writing, I wanted to explore the opportunity to share my story, my experiences and I wanted to help and support others who might be in a similar situation to myself. I wanted to create a platform where people could come together and share their stories and experiences also and to realise that they are not alone, I hope I’ve been able to achieve this to some extent.
I never thought that writing about my life, my experiences and my passions/interests would gain so much engagement, that it would grab the attention of over a thousand people. It’s just so surreal to me and I’m honestly so grateful to everyone who takes the time out of their day to read my blog posts and to give supportive feedback.
This amount of followers/readers might not be many compared to some people but as I’ve mentioned before blogging isn’t about numbers, it’s about the community, the people and writing about the things you love and are passionate for and I’m grateful to those of you who have decided to take an interest in my life and what I have to say, I never thought anyone would.
Since this is a post relating to me reminiscing about my blogging journey, I thought I’d include a list of my most popular posts during my time as a blogger. You can click on the post title in order to read it if you’re interested.

Aims and achievements:
Raising awareness: One of my main aims since the beginning has been to attempt to raise awareness of vision impairment and tackle the stigma surrounding sight loss, I believe I’ve been able to achieve this to some extent. Many people have told me that they now have a better understanding of sight loss due to reading my posts and others who live with a vision impairment like myself have expressed their gratitude for me sharing my experiences since they feel appreciative to know that someone else is in a similar situation to them. It’s surreal to me that people are able to gain something from my posts and that I can help or educate others in some way, that’s all I ever aimed for when starting this blog and I hope I can do more of the same in the future.
Building a community: As I mentioned previously, building a platform/community for people to come together and share their stories and experiences was another aim of my blog. And now we have over a thousand a part of it, how? I’m so grateful to have such a supportive community in my little corner of the internet. I never imagine that so many people would come together, show their support and take the time to share their experiences also. Thank you if you’re one of those people who has taken the time to express your thoughts and feelings on one of my posts or who has just been a part of this blogging community of ours in some way.
Guest posts and opportunities: When I first started blogging I was aware of guest blog posts and blog contributions and although it was something I imagined I would love to do, I never thought I’d receive the opportunity, I was wrong. I am very lucky to have now written guest blog posts for My Trending Stories, Ability Superstore and Scope. I was also interviewed on RNIB connect radio at the end of 2016 and I’ve also been featured as one of the Top 10 disability bloggers by Ability Superstore. Who would’ve thought that starting my own little blog in my room back in April 2015 would give me so many amazing opportunities? I am honestly so grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had and have absolutely loved writing contributions for external websites.
Reaching 1000 followers is a huge milestone for me, one I only ever dreamed of achieving, it’s hard to believe that it’s now a reality. So much has changed since I hit that publish button for the very first time back in April 2015, our little blogging family has grown, I’ve met some amazing people, I’ve had some great opportunities and I’ve been able to express my thoughts, feelings and passions in a way that I love, by writing. I’ve never been a very outspoken person therefore this is why I love blogging so much as it allows me to express myself in a way that I’m comfortable doing.
I’ve said it so many times during this post but I’d just like to say thank you one last time, thank you for joining me on this blogging journey and for being a part of My Blurred World. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
How long have you been reading my blog for? Are you a regular reader or have you only just joined this little blogging family of ours? Let me know as I would love to hear from you.
Thank you for reading as always.
