We are our own worst enemies, am I right?
At some point in our lives we’ve all been immersed in a world of self-pity, disbelief in ourselves and we’ve been unable to convince ourselves that we are capable of many things. We often think that we can’t achieve something in life because we’re not ‘good enough’ but I’m here today to tell you that this is not the truth.
Fear, it controls us without us knowing it, it prevents us from reaching for our dreams because we’re afraid of failing, not being able to reach where we want to be. But not only does it prevent us from aiming high, it prevents us from believing in ourselves. We can be scared of what others think of us, afraid that someone might not like us because of our personality, our appearance, our attitude towards life. But do you want to know something? No matter how hard you try, not everyone is going to like you but that’s ok because you’re not going to like everyone who you come across either. It’s all a part of life. The most important thing is that you’re being yourself and that you’re going about life the way you wish to do so. By being yourself you will attract the right people into your life, they will love you for who you are.
What we don’t consider is that everyone is human, everyone has insecurities even though some might not show it. But also, although you might pick yourself apart for something you don’t like about yourself, someone else won’t notice that and they might love whatever it is you dislike so much.
Media, there are no more words that need to be said. It captures our thoughts and makes us believe in things that are so far from the truth. We are all so focused on the images portrayed in the media these days that we forget about what’s really important. It’s easier said than done but don’t let the media determine who you want to be, don’t compare yourself to that perfect person portrayed in that magazine or in that article or in that instagram post because I can assure you that they are probably far from perfect themselves, no one is perfect even those who seem to be.
Everyone focuses too much on being as good or better than someone who they look up to or someone they see everyday and wish to be, you know you’ve done it so don’t deny it. Comparing yourself to others is not the way to go about life but stopping isn’t the easiest thing to do either. Please don’t tell yourself that you’re not as good as someone else, it’s not good for you and will probably end up having a negative effect on you and your thoughts.
Do you tell yourself that you’re not good enough? That you can’t achieve something because it’s beyond your reach? I bet that every single one of you reading this have done so at some point in your life, it’s time this stopped. Nothing is ever impossible, you can achieve things you never thought you could. It might take a little hard work but at the end of the day it’s worth it.
We only have one life, don’t waste it on negative thoughts and feelings, don’t ever think that you’re unable of reaching a goal or that you’re not good enough for something because I can assure you that you are.
No matter how little or ambitious the thing you want to achieve is, you are capable of it. You might be thinking that you’re not good enough at applying your eyeliner, doing your hair or that you’re not good enough to pass your exams or your uni degree or getting that amazing job that you so desperately want, you are capable of achieving things you never thought you were. It’s undeniable that you need to work to get to where you want to be but when you finally reach that goal, you’ll feel like you’ve accomplished something and that is such a special feeling.
You might not reach that goal with your first attempt but that’s also ok because you can give it another shot, never give up.
It’s just as important for us to experience failures as well as success because it’s what drives us to gain more determination to give it another shot.
I think it’s important for us all to move on from a place of perceived obscurity in life to pursuing our dreams and creating a new reality in life.
Everyone deserves to know that they are good enough, friends, family and others around you believe in you but the most important thing is that you believe in yourself.
You can achieve anything if you put your mind to it, you ARE good enough, never forget that.
